It is with great regret that we note the passing of Neil Sanger, husband of Moe Tynan, and a great friend of the club.

Neil Sanger, beloved husband of Maureen Tynan-Sanger, passed away on February 24, 2016 at the age of 72 years. Neil lived a full life and was loved for his work, his commitment to community and his wonderful sense of humour. A get together will be held at the Calgary Canadian Irish Athletic Club (4343 – 18 Street NE) on March 2, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. Memories and condolences may be shared through www.evanjstrong.com.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Donations Committee has made three donations locally so far this year.

 

1)  Father Lacombe Care Centre -   $2,500 for a Ex N Flex leg exerciser for use at the centre

 

2)  Association for the Rehabilitation of the Brain Injured - $1,000 for a shelving system in their therapy room

 

3)  Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary -  $1,000 to be used in the area of most need

 

Further donation to support organizations in our local community will be made over the next few months.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Fairview School mentor program is starting up again for 2016 under the direction of Patricia Garner.  It is a key component of our ongoing partnership with Fairview Junior High School.

 

If you can spare the time to assist with the program (2 hours every 2nd Friday afternoon) come on out to an orientation session being held at Anne Dale's store (My Sewing Room) on Wednesday, March 2nd from 6:00 to 9:00pm (coffee and snacks provided).  The address is  148-8228 Macleod Trail S.E, Calgary.

 

It is a group mentoring system, so if things come up you can miss the occasional session.

 

A great program working with youth at the school.

 

 

 

On February 9th, Dean White was inducted into the club.  Gwynneth Gourley is his sponsor and John Charrett will be his mentor.  Paul Gaudet did an excellent first go at performing the induction.

 

Dean's classification is Professional Engineer.

Other dates will be coming for Grillin' and Servin' events as well as other potential parking assignments.  Keep an eye on the Arch for further information.  We need everyone's participation to make these successful fundraising activities.
