COMMUNITY
SERVICE includes
the scope of activities which Rotarians undertake to improve the quality
of life in their community. Many official Rotary programs are intended to
meet community needs, whether it be to promote literacy, help the elderly
or disabled, combat urban violence or provide opportunities for local
youth.

Nature
Park at Fish Creek Park South - Official Opening June 18, 2002
|
|
The
official opening of the Nature Park was held on June 18,
attended by approximately 70 members, city and provincial
officials, and representatives of Corporate partners Carma
Developers and Lafarge North America.
The Rotary Club of Calgary - Chinook was chartered in March of
1977, and soon after established a special fund for the
purpose of eventually developing a permanent public facility
that would recognize the community service role of Rotary, and
provide community facilities for public enjoyment.

The approximately 48 hectare area is bounded by the Bow River
to the west and an escarpment to the east. The paved pathway
from Fish Creek Park was extended and now runs through the
Nature Park and up into Carma’s Cranston development.
